Victims of a Colombian pyramid scheme that swindled profits of more than $5 million are to receive 65 cents each as compensation, reported newspaper La Nacion Tuesday.
The sale of assets from fraudulent company C&C Business and Services has garnered just $1,800 — giving the 2,752 victims a paltry 65 cents each.
Settlement agent Jose Calderon Israel Charry said, “The resources are a result of the sale of desks, computer equipment and office supplies impounded by the Prosecutor General. No cash was seized.”
He said the value of goods that authorities had not managed to sell — chairs, counting machines and sewing machines, among other items — amounted to $419, or 15 cents per victim.
The deadline for victims to claim their 60 cents is Wedenesday February 15, he said. Anyone wanting to claim should contact Charry at joseinterventor01@gmail.com.
Nearly 3,000 people were affected by the scam run by Camilo Alberto Cardona Vaganoy and his fraudulent company C&C Business and Services.
