Inhabitants of Villa Rica, a town in the southwest of Colombia where FARC rebels carried out a deadly attack last week, took to the streets Tuesday to march against the guerrilla group.
According to several media reports, thousands of residents of Villa Rica showed up to protest the violence that killed seven when an alleged FARC bomb exploded in the town on Thursday. The town residents were joined by people from neighboring towns showing their solidarity.
The town celebrated its 13th anniversary and took the opportunity to dress in white and demand peace.
“The violence is taking us nowhere and has done great harm to these families,” a student told newscast CM&.
Villa Rica was one of four southwest Colombian towns that were attacked by alleged FARC rebels last week.
