Colombia’s air transport authority has contracted consultants to conduct a technical feasibility study for the location of Bogota’s proposed second airport, Colombian media reported Friday.
Aeronautica Civil invested $1.2 million and contracted the firm Consorcio Consultores Aeroportuarios, to carry out a year-long study for the site for an alternative to Eldorado International airport.
The study will be carried out in three stages. Five possible locations will be evaluated. The option that meets the standards of functionality and operability, will be chosen.
The aim of the project is to optimize and improve the spaces of general aviation of Eldorado airport and to free up new spaces for air transport.
The director of Aeronautica Civil Santiago Castro called for a second airport in August.
