Colombia’s National Police Chief confirmed Thursday the capture of alias “Robinson,” who assisted the FARC with the kidnapping of a Colombian mayor’s daughter by exploiting his position as the victim’s neighbor, reported newspaper El Espectador.
According to General Oscar Naranjo, Robinson provided intelligence to the FARC that led to the kidnapping of 10-year old Nohora Valentina Muñoz for 19 days. He was also in charge of conducting hostage negotiations with the victim’s family.
“This capture is very important and contributes to exposing this theft (…) Robinson is an inhabitant of Fortul, Nohora Valentina’s neighbor, and was responsible for providing key information for this rapture,” said Naranjo.
Robinson is charged with kidnapping, extortion and terrorism. Three guerrillas from the FARC’s 54th Front have already been arrested in connection with the abduction, which occurred September 29 near the Venezuelan border.
