The Spanish Supreme Court has rejected the asylum appeal of a Colombian ex-FARC member, despite claims he was forced to join the guerrillas as a child.
It ruled against Jhon Faber Molina Pinilla on the grounds of his “membership of a terrorist group” — which according to the Geneva Convention deems him ineligible for asylum.
Pinilla said he was forced to join the FARC as a child, and had never committed war crimes or crimes against humanity.
The Supreme Court said it took that into account but still believed that Pinilla had committed “grave common law crimes.” He had also submitted false documents in his asylum application.
