Alleged guerrillas of the FARC attacked a convoy of Emerald Energy, a subsidiary of Chinese Sinochem, in the south of Colombia Saturday. One oil worker died in the attack.
According to Colombia’s military, the guerrillas attacked the convoy with propelled grenades while on route in the southern Caqueta department where in June four Chinese oil workers were kidnapped, allegedly by the same group.
The victim was the driver of one of the trucks that went from the town of Puerto Rico to San Vicente del Caguan.
Over the past year, the FARC has stepped up actions against oil companies active mostly in the oil-rich south and east of the country.
