Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos landed in South Korea, just after visiting Japan, with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relations with the Asian country, Colombian media reported Wednesday.
President Santos and his South Korean counterpart Lee Myung-bak, are to sign five trade agreements. “Two of energy, one of infrastructure, one related to the environment and one more for the development of housing,” said Santos.
The Colombian head of state added that “relations with South Korea have always been good, we have decided that we are going to raise them to a new level and turn them into strategic [relations].”
Some of the aims of the presidential visit, which ends Friday, September 16, are the renewal of agreements relating to science, technology and the advance of the military industry.
Santos will also take part in meetings with members of business community and organizations involved in the promotion of South Korean commerce and investment.
