Colombia News - Baloto

The legend of the El Dorado lives on as a Colombian man cashed in on the gold on Wednesday, winning $44.4 million in the “Baloto” lottery with the lucky numbers 2, 8, 10, 17, 27, and 37, reported the Baloto website.

The golden ticket was sold at the popular bread shop “Pan y Trigo” in the commercial area of El Paso, Cesar in Colombia, according to Caribbean news source Diario del Norte.

El Paso has turned into a full-on fiesta, as local residents celebrate the fact that Colombia’s new millionaire is from their home town. However, the winner’s identity remains unknown because, according to the vendor who sold the ticket, the man is a chronic gambler who works in a coal extraction complex.

“I know him by face, but I don’t know what his name is, he lives in the town of La Loma. He is always coming here for his purchases, and every time I see him he spends a lot of money which is to say, in various bets. Wednesday night I remember that he had made a big bet and I now see that he was Colombia’s fortunate winner,” reported the young person who sold the winning Baloto ticket to the mystery man.

This prize is one of the biggest in the history of Colombian lotteries, which at first made many betters skeptical because they believed that no one could ever win such a large amount of money. However, the myth and mystery of Colombian chance lives on.

It’s not the discovery of Colombia’s city of gold, but it’ll do.
