Colombian and Chilean presidents signed documents Tuesday that confirm their country’s mutual economic integration and strategic association, reported newspaper El Espectador.
Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos explained that “this association, and this exchange of experiences and mutual help is very important for Colombia.”
The two presidents met Tuesday at the Palacio de la Moneda in Santiago, Chile and shortly after signed new agreements that strengthen their mutual collaboration and coordination in order to increase their respective potential benefits. The document they created and signed is a declaration of the two countries’ mutual goals.
The nine points of the document elaborate on their views on democracy and human rights, strategic association, commercial relations, regional integration, cooperation of human capital, drugs and transnational organized crime, Antarctic activities, migration issues, and multilateral matters.
The agreement includes plans to strengthen and develop trade relations, as well as reinforce their legal standpoints on important issues such as terrorism, the war on drugs, and economic development.
