A Central Bank representative stated Friday that the most recent financial report from June reveals that the prices of perishable foodstuffs has put pressure on the rising cost of living in Colombia, according to W Radio.
The document specifies that the price of the average economic “bundle of goods” has increased 3.2% in the last 12 months, while food prices have specifically risen 4.1 percent.
This “upward” phenomenon is related to the harsh winter of 2010 that caused the loss of many acres of crops, as well as blocked the transportation of products via roadways that were closed because of wide-spread flooding.
The prices that increased the most were for fruits and vegetables because of low supply, reported the Central Bank.
