Players of Argentina taking part in the Under-20 World Cup soccer in Colombia have caused damages to Medellin’s soccer stadium, the city’s police commander said Wednesday.
According to police commander Yesid Vasquez, the players vandalized the dressing room to express their frustration after the game against Egypt Tuesday.
The players’ aggression followed a tense game in which the Medellin crowd took vocal side of the Egyptian underdog. Argentina won the game 2-1.
“The game went normal. Some fans booed them and the players did not like that. Some lowered their pants and others grabbed their genitals in front of the stands. After that they entered the dressing room and kicked in a closet and a door. There was not much damage, but that is not the attitude,” the police commander told press.
Argenina played their three group games and second round in Medellin and will be attending the quarter finals against Portugal in the coastal city of Cartagena.
