The director for the National Institute of Concessions (INCO) resigned Monday after hitting a pedestrian while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to Caracol Radio, Maria Ines Agudelo Valencia was driving from the municipality of Chia to Bogota on Sunday, June 5. Around 11 pm, Valencia crashed into a trainee policeman, throwing him approximately 30 feet. The trainee policeman was later hospitalized for various fractures and lacerations.
It wasn’t until June 8 that Germain Cordona, Colombia’s Minister of Transportation, became aware of Agudelo’s accident.
Maria Constanza Garcia was named as temporary director of INCO until Germain Cordona chooses a permanent replacement.
The local prosecutor from Chia is currently carrying out an investigation on charges of negligent injury.
