Colombian authorities seized and destroyed 14 tons of marijuana in the country’s southwest Cauca department on Tuesday.
The drugs were seized in a joint operation by the police, army and air force in the La Maria region near the village of Toribio, Cauca.
According to authorities, the marijuana belonged to the FARC‘s 6th front, and had an estimated value of nearly $20 million (COP35 billion). Police said that the guerrilla organization was planning to distribute the drugs in the country’s main cities.
According to organized crime website InSight, the FARC have become the country’s primary marijuana dealers with the majority of seizures, normally between one and four tons, occurring along the Pacific coast, particularly in Cauca.
