Colombian President Álvaro Uribe wants the militaries who were
dismissed because of their involvement in the disappearance and death
of eleven young men from Soacha to receive the maximum punishment.
“I can not hide it hurts me deely that army officers apparently are linked to the Soacha crimes. This harms us very much,” the President said in the speech in Yumbo, Valle.
Three high army officials Friday were dismissed by the military, because of their alleged involvement in the disappearance and death of eleven young men that disappeared from Soacha, near Bogotá to appear on gurrillas killed in combat lists hundreds of miles away in Norte de Santander.
It is unclear what the men are suspected of exactly. Uribe had earlier stated there was no proof of foul play by the army in the death of the disappeared.
