Medellin authorities say they have arrested the son of Angel de Jesús Pacheco, alias “Sebastian,” one of the leaders of neo-paramilitary drug gang “Los Paisas.”
“Virel” was one of 25 arrested members of the Bello-based “La Camila” gang, who according to the police are one of the gangs also working for the “Oficina de Envigado,” another drug-trafficking neo-paramilitary organization.
The son of “Sebastian” is suspected of running his father’s organization in the Antioquia department.
The arrest of “Virel” and the suspected “Camila” members comes amid a nationwide police offensive against drug trafficking organizations that has led to at least 42 arrests since Thursday.
