Colombian gold medal triple jumper, Caterine Ibarguen, has won world title for the second time at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing.
The athlete who comes from the northern province of Uraba raised her year record by two centimeters to 14.90 meters, in her fourth attempt out of six.
Her national record which she achieved in 2014 was 15.31 meters.
Ibarguen has defended her winning title, which she was awarded at the 2013 championships held in Moscow.
This is her 29th competition in which she has remained undefeated.
Following Ibarguen, Israel’s Knyasyeva-Minenko who jumped 14.78 meters won silver and Kazakhstani Olga Rypakova won bronze jumping 14.77 meters.
Although Ibarguen is not the first Colombian athlete to win a medal, her success in triple jump is a historical moment for Colombia.
The star athlete will be 32 years old at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the first of the games to be held in South America.
