Spain requested the extradition from Colombia of an alleged member of the FARC, accused by the Spanish courts in 2010 of collaborating with separatist group ETA.
According to news agency EFE, Victor Ramon Vargas Salazar allegedly collaborated with Basque separatist group ETA to attack Colombian officials in Spain.
Vargas, aged 36, is one of 13 defendants — six from ETA and seven from the FARC — charged with conspiracy to commit terrorist homicide. ETA is considered a terrorist organization by Europe and the United States.
The charge was brought by Spanish judge Eloy Velasco for allegedly collaborating to use bombs to attack, among others, former presidents Alvaro Uribe and Andres Pastrana in Spain.
On April 8 Colombian authorities announced the capture of Vargas Salazar, alias “Chato” or “Juantxo,” in the municipality of Caucasia in the department of Antioquia.
