Colombia’s national forces have killed six alleged members of the FARC in the Pacific coast department of Choco, Europa Press reported Monday.
Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera explained that national forces attacked a FARC “training school” in Riosucio, Choco, killing six people who are believed to have belonged to the FARC’s 57th Front.
Among the dead was alias “Gloria,” the alleged idelogue of the rebels in that region who was responsible for “political work and propaganda of the terrorist group.”
President Juan Manuel Santos used Twitter to congratulate “the Police and Air Force for the joint operation that killed 6 FARC guerrillas in Choco.”
Minister Rivera also noted that they had confiscated weapons, war material and important documentation from the FARC camp, while revealing government figures stating that during March of this year, 53 guerrillas have been killed, with a further 90 arrested and 85 voluntarily demobilized, according to TeleSur.
