A passenger plane on Monday crashed just before landing northeast of Bogota, injuring two adults and one child, reported various media.
The accident took place at 1:20PM Monday near Guaymaral, just 1,600 feet before the plane was due to land. Those injured were a disabled child who had just had taken part in a ceremony in Bogota in remembrance of Colombians killed by landmines, his mother and the plane’s pilot.
In the first helicopter rescue of its kind, conducted by National Police Air Service (ARAVI), local police commander Lieutenant Colonel Diego Hernandez described how the injured were “taken by police helicopter to a sophisticated medical treatment center and all are now in a stable condition”.
The Cessna 206 aircraft was owned by Saer LTDA and the authorities are now investigating the causes of the crash.
