The government is preparing a decree to call a state of emergency,
giving it more power to break the judicial strike that’s been
paralyzing Colombia’s judicial system for over a month now.
The decree would allow the State to fire court workers who continue to join the strike.
Over 90 percent of the court workers have refused to work for over a month, demanding higher wages. Union Asonal and the government are not able to reach an agreement, despite several talks.
Asonal has called the possible state of emergency illegal and says the strike is a “constitutional right”.
According to the report the strike has affected hundreds of thousands of Colombians.
