A Colombian student accused of killing a fellow student does not accept his charges but apologizes to the courts Monday saying that “only God knows that I didn’t want to kill him,” reports Caracol Radio.

“I apologize to the family and the state for what I did, only God knows that I didn’t want to kill him, I can only say this,” said Jason Javier Fonseca Borda at his arraignment in Bogota where he was presented with the charge of aggravated homicide.

Fonesca Borda, 19, is accused of killing 16-year-old Miguel Angel Guerrero after an argument at an apartment party in Bogota.

According to accounts, Fonseca Borda and friends left the party but returned to the apartment after hearing that a friend had been assaulted earlier that night by some party-goers. The youths allegedly rang the doorbell and attacked those inside, killing the 16-year-old student.

“You were informed by your friends that Diego had been assaulted by another youth in apartment 406 and you, without listening to anything, take out your knife and go and kill another person … A young student like you,” said the prosecutor.

The deceased was an environmental engineering student at the University de la Salle.

The accused is reportedly an industrial design major in his first year of college.

“I ask that you condemn him. He has to pay for what he did to my son, he has to go to jail and pay, because my son was just 16-years-old, a good boy, and studied environmental engineering at the University de la Salle,” said the Angel Guerrero’s mother to the court.

Fonseca Borda faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in jail.
