Two Colombian journalists win the Rey de España journalism award in the television category for a program on people who have been “disappeared” in the South American country, reports newspaper El Pais.
Waldir Ochoa Guzman and Victor Hugo Deossa of channel Televida, which is based in Medellin, were honored Thursday for a 28-minute piece called “The Truth” about Colombians who have disappeared during the country’s armed conflict.
The program was part of a series about social injustice called “The Line,” and was broadcast on April 22, 2010.
The journalists said “The Truth” is meant to “give a voice for the victims, those whose stories are part of a policy of neglect and disregard,” reports El Pais.
