Colombian rebel group the FARC will release five hostages between Thursday and Sunday, former Senator Piedad Cordoba, who is mediating the planned hand-over, said Sunday.
The senator said on Twitter that she is “certain that today, before midnight, new and good news will come to continue moving forward with the releases.”
According to the senator, she will not take part in the release itself.
The FARC promised on December 8 that they would release the hostages, but would not give the coordinates of the planned hand-over until the government, Red Cross and Cordoba’s group Colombians for Peace agreed the security protocols.
Three members of the security forces and two local politicians will be released on five different locations and times.
