Tolima has one foot in next round

by Adriaan Alsema October 6, 2008

Deportivo Tolima Sunday took a four point advantage on the Copa Mustang’s
first runner up Santa Fé. With an advantage of 10 points on the number
nine of the League, América, it has one foot in the next round.

The league leaders were too strong for Copa Mustang I winners Boyaca Chicó, and the only goal of the match came from Perlaza in the 26th minute.

Deportivo Pereira surprisingly find themselves in third place following a 2-1 win over América de Cali. Medina had his goal cancelled out by América’s Velez, but Quintero then scored the winner in the 63rd minute.

Junior Barranquilla have a reason to worry after a 2-1 defeat at Deportes Quindío. Hernández did put the Barranquilla outfit ahead in the thirtiest minutes but a penalty from another Hernández levelled the score just before the break. Saraz netted a winning goal on the hour mark.

Envigado recorded their third win of the season, and a convincing one at that. Atlético Bucaramanga never stood a real chance and lost 4-1. The home side scored through González (two), Serna and Micolta, who caused an own goal. The only away goal came from Valoyes.

Atlético Nacional keep some hope alive with a narrow 0-1 win at last-placed Cúcuta. The only goal of the match came from Moreno after just ten minutes.

La Equidad and Huila held each other to a 2-2 draw that really helps neither side at this stage. The home side took a 2-0 lead through Carpintero and Ochoa (own goal), but Cominges and Nuñez then scored back to make it 2-2. The final away goal came in the dying minutes.
