Colombia’s inspector general wants judicial authorities to investigate who is responsible for the death of 21 coal workers in a mine in the north of the country.
Prosecutor General Alejandro Ordoñez sent a letter to Prosecutor General Viviane Morales Thursday requesting a criminal investigation into the responsibility of the accident in exactly the same mine where 31 miners died in a similar accident four years ago.
According to Ordoñez, there is reason to investigate those who were in charge of security in the mine.
The Colombian government has already ordered the closure of the mine. According to government security inspectors, the mine passed recent inspections regarding security.
