Colombia’s Supreme Court elected a new president Thursday.
The Supreme Court chose Camilo Humberto Tarquino to the position with 19 of 21 votes in favor, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.
Tarquino, a judge from the Labor Division, is a native of Ibague, Colombia. He recieved his bachelor’s degree from San Simon College, his law degree from La Gran Colombia University, and has a graduate degree in labor law from the Salamanca University in Spain.
Sigifredo Espinosa was elected vice president of the judicial body. He was president of the Criminal Chamber of the court and was one of the judges that had friction with former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.
