Venezuela’s National Assembly wants former Colombia President Alvaro Uribe to be designated a “persona non grata”, local media reported on Wednesday.
During an assembly meeting on Wednesday, the governing party lawmaker Freddy Bernal intervened to request an agreement of “non grata” regarding Uribe.
The Colombian politician has been consistently and fiercely opposing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Bernal described Uribe as a “violator of national sovereignty and the dignity of the Venezuelan people,” reported Caracol Radio.
Bernal accused Uribe of having terrorist links with a student activist who was recently expelled from Colombia, and also being involved in the assassination of youth leader Robert Serra.

“Is Alvaro Uribe a man we could welcome with joy and excitement and brotherhood in Venezuela? That can never be,” Bernal said in his proposal.
The National Assembly has approved the application and sent it to the president for ratification.
