Colombia: a diving destination

Colombia news - Diving, Tourism

Colombia’s privileged position in the tropics and its 1,800 miles of coastline offer a diverse range of underwater opportunities for scuba diving enthusiasts.

More than eight unique diving hot spots on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Colombia, which will be featured in Spain’s 2011 International Tourism Fair, draw divers to enjoy the extensive coral reefs and diverse marine life.

Coral reefs in the warm crystal blue water of the Caribbean offer a life-size aquarium of colorful fish, rays, sea horses, octopuses, starfish, jellyfish, sea urchins, crabs, and lobsters, among others.

The Pacific coast of Colombia boasts black coral, giant rays, snapper, grouper, tuna and a variety of sharks such as the lemon, hammer, white tip, whale, tortoise, silk and the deep sea solrayo shark, nick-named the ”monster.”

A thrilling excursion to the sunken Colombian navy ship near the harbor town of Bahia Solano has made the remote location a popular destination for divers.

Inexpensive certification courses and exciting dive trips make Colombia a perfect destination for experienced divers and beginners alike.
