The president of Spanish soccer side Real Madrid has praised Colombian James Rodriguez as a player to lead the club to more silverware, newspaper El Tiempo reported on Monday.

Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, has praised the the staff that drafted the new signings for the 2014/15 season and said that Real Madrid has the “great players” necessary to have another successful season.

Without mentioning the controversial departures of Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria, Perez celebrated the new talent of the Champions League champions.

“We are facing the new season with a staff of excellent players. We have the utmost confidence in them. We have three of the best in the World. Toni Kroos, a young winner. We have also signed James Rodriguez, revelation of the World Cup and Golden Boot. He has proven his leadership qualities in Colombia, Monaco and Porto. James will take us to new titles.

“Keylor Navas was instrumental in the World Cup. He had a clean sheet in three of the five games and was instrumentl in Costa Rica reaching the quarter finals. Finally we have added “Chicharito” to the magnificent front.”

Perez also expressed the club’s pride with their success in the Champions League last season and recognized that their “Tenth” was the “obsession” of Real Madrid, which had finally lifted the trophy after three consecutive semifinals.

The goal is to go for more, there is “no time for complacency,” Perez said.

“I want to thank the professionalism of the coaches and staff, who are already part of the history of Real Madrid and at the individual level, we should mention the new Golden Ball holder, Christian,” he said.

“It’s an honor to have him in Real Madrid shirt. He is a player of legend. He starts this season with the Golden Boot, his third, with 31 goals and 17 Champions is a competition record. 2014 will be unforgettable, but we will demand more,” he said.

James has scored three goals in his first eight games at Real Madrid. His most recent goal came against Deportivo, a beautiful left foot strike from outside the box.
