Authorities in the northwestern Colombian state of Antioquia will organize an emergency security meeting following the killing of three officers over the weekend, the local government announced on Monday.

The purpose of the security meeting is to evaluate the conditions in which police officers in the region are working. All police commands are currently on alert after the weekend spate of killings, according to the secretary of the Government of Antioquia.
The three policemen were killed in separate incidents in the towns of Briceño, Guadalupe and Cañasgordas.
Measures have already been taken such as the restriction of hours of the operation of public establishments in the municipalities of Peque and Buritica.
Authorities have speculated that either leftist rebel group FARC or drug trafficking group “Los Urabeños” are responsible for two of the deaths. Both groups are closely involved with the drug trade in the area.
A reward of $25,000 has been offered to anyone with information regarding the killers.
Despite ongoing peace talks between the FARC and the Colombian government in Havana, Cuba, neither side has committed to a bilateral ceasefire.
