Falcao could join James Rodriguez at Real Madrid: Spanish press

Colombian superstar striker Radamel Falcao could be loaned to Real Madrid for $16.1 million, according to reports from the Spanish press.

James’ successful transfer to Real Madrid has formed rumors that his teammate back at Porto and then at AS Monaco, striker Radamel Falcao could join him, according to Spanish newspaper ABC.

According to the newspaper, AS Monaco striker Falcao could be loaned to the “Los Merengues” for the sum of $16.1 million with the option to buy the remainder of his contract at the end of the full year for $44.3 million after the loan period.

Should Falcao go to Real Madrid, he would replace Frenchman Karim Benzema, who has been linked to many clubs across Europe, after an impressive World Cup performance. If Benzema is not transferred, then it is likely manager Carlo Ancelotti will rotate the two having one as a primary starter, and the other as a back up.

Falcao’s recent knee injury that left him sidelined for the 2014 World Cup raises doubts about his fitness, which causes his price on the transfer market to dip slightly and the desire of Real Madrid to watch his performance after claims that he is back in full form.

The Colombian national team’s performance in the 2014 World Cup has created a buzz over different Colombian players.

James officially signed with Real Madrid, David Ospina has reached an agreement with Arsenal, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado and Fredy Guarin have allegedly been in conversations with AS Monaco as the replacements for James and Falcao should he be transferred.
