Following an impressing World Cup, Colombia midfielder James Rodriguez has seen his market value increase 44% to $53.6 million, making him the world’s sixth most expensive player, a Brazilian sports consultancy firm said.

According to the Sao Paulo-based Pluri Consultoria, Rodriguez climbed from 24 to 6 in the ranking of the world’s most expensive players, overtaking stars like Thomas Muller (Germany) and Wayne Rooney (England).
Before the world’s most important soccer tournament began, Rodriguez’ value was estimated at $37.1 million.
Pluri used dozens of criteria to determine the change in value of players over the course of the World Cup.
Striker Jackson Martinez saw his value go up slightly to $28.8 million, but was overtaken by forward Juan Cuadrado who’s value went from $21.9 million to $29.9 million.
The total value of Colombian national team players grew a staggering 88% over the tournament, making Colombia the world’s seventh most expensive team with a value of $111 million.
Rodriguez’ outstanding performance at the World Cup has led to increased rumors about his possible transfer from AS Monaco to renowned teams like Manchester United and Real Madrid.
