Today, Copa Airlines was the first airline to receive the Safety Management Systems certification from the Colombia Aviation Authority.
Copa Airlines had to demonstrate that it had a safety system that runs through the whole organization and is in line with Colombia’s regulations, according to La Nota Digital.
Roberto Junguito Pombo, president of Copa Airlines Colombia, said “we are proud to announce the successful implementation of the safety system and we passed the test with ‘outstanding.’ This achievement would not have been possible without teamwork, dedication and commitment of the entire Copa Colombia team.”
The Colombia Aviation Authority requests that all Colombian airlines submit an implementation plan by December 2010.
