Colombia granted the request of a Spanish judge to interrogate former FARC guerrillas to verify the identity of suspected members of Basque separatist group ETA allegedly active in Venezuela and Colombia.
According to Spanish press agency EFE, Vice-President Angelino Garzon said his government is at the absolute disposal of Spanish judicial authorities to investigate links between the FARC and ELN, both considered terrorist groups by the U.S. and Europe.
Spain had requested access to the former guerrillas to show photos of ETA suspects, who allegedly traveled extensively to South America and are suspected to have met with FARC guerrillas and someone within the Venezuelan government.
According to Spanish judge Eloy Velasco, there is enough reason to investigate the possible joint training of members of the FARC and ETA in the Venezuelan jungle.
