A Spanish judge wants Spanish investigators to be allowed to interrogate former guerrillas of the FARC to identify suspected members of the Basque separatist group ETA who allegedly have ties to the Colombian rebel group.
According to Spanish press agency Efe, judge Eloy Velasco want to interrogate nine arrested guerrillas. Six of them already were interrogated by Spanish authorities, but the judge hopes that recent photos of the alleged ETA members will make it easier for the guerrillas to recognize the suspects.
The ETA suspects allegedly traveled extensively to South America and are suspected to have met with FARC guerrillas and someone within the Venezuelan government.
The judge also wants access to information found on the computers of “Mono Jojoy,” the FARC-commander who was killed by armed forces on September 22, Caracol Radio reported.
According to Velasco, there is enough reason to investigate the possible joint training of members of the FARC and ETA in the Venezuelan jungle.
