A Colombian woodworker has taken legal action to free himself from the trouble caused by his unfortunate namesake – FARC leader “Jorge Briceño Suarez,” a.k.a. “Mono Jojoy,” who commands the Eastern Bloc of the country’s biggest guerrilla group.
Enrique Jorge Briceño Suarez is unable to vote, leave the country, or take out a loan because his name sets off security alerts and causes security forces to sweep in and arrest him.
Now the Constitutional Court has granted the innocent man a writ of protection to distinguish him from the other Jorge, who is one of the top ten most wanted people in the world.
Ironically, Jorge Briceño Suarez is only a nom de guerre for Mono Jojoy, whose real name is Victor Julio Suarez Rojas.
