Two people were injured Wednesday evening after bombs exploded in
downtown Bogotá and on the Colombia-Ecuador border. Colombian
authorities blame the FARC for the attacks.
Two passing pedestrians were wounded when one of the Bogotá bombs exploded. The second bomb left only material damage. I third bomb could be deactivated by police.
Bogotá Police commander Rodolfo Palomino blames the FARC for the Bogotá attacks and offered a US$9,500 reward for those to come forward with information leading to the attackers. Four suspects already have been arrested.
According to the police commander the number of personal injuries could have been larger. “Fortunately all shops were closed at that time and there were little people in the area,” Palomino said.
At nearly the sametime, a bomb exploded in the south of Colombian town of Ipiales, close to the Ecuadorean border. The explosion caused only material damage and panic in a nearby hospital.
