The third Ibero-American Congress of Culture kicks off on Thursday in Medellin as hundreds of musicians, artists, and industry representatives from the region come together in Colombia’s “City of Eternal Spring.”

The four day congress, running from July 1 – 4, will offer event-goers free concerts, discussions, and workshops, and present an opportunity for visitors to collectively share, reflect, and understand more than 500 years of history, in an effort to promote ties and further integration across the region.

Apart from the dozens of free concerts, exhibitions, and discussions across the city, Medellin will also hold its first ever “Cultural Market” alongside the other festivities, in order to give Ibero-American craftsman and musical industry participants the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic works and network.

One of the key aspects of the Cultural Market, the “Business Roundtable,” which begins today, represents a strategic opportunity to bring together buyers and sellers in the music and arts industry from across the region.

Participating in the Roundtable will be roughly 120 musicians from all parts of Colombia, who were selected based on their diversity, history, innovation and representativeness of Colombian culture.

Alongside the Roundtable will be a fair which will kick off on Friday at 8AM in the Pabellon Blanco in the Palacio de Exposiciones, and will offer the public the opportunity to visit more than 80 innovative and interactive booths belonging to various cultural and musical representatives, such as craftsmen, media companies, Ibero-American ministries, Colombia’s secretary of culture, instrument producers, sound studios, and music schools.
