8 killed in Cali, Medellin gang violence

At least eight alleged gangsters were killed and another three were injured in gang-related violence in Cali and Medellin, respectively on Sunday and Saturday.

According to police in Cali, the shootings in that city took place on Sunday in he neighborhoods of Mojica, Alfonso Bonilla and Portero Grande, all located in the troubled southeastern Aguablancas district.

Among the dead are a 36-year old women, a shopkeeper and a minor.

Police said that one of the alleged shooters has been arrested.

Shootings in Cali

In Medellin, police reported that three people were shot in the impoverished north of the city.

According to local newspaper El Colombiano, the shooting took place near La Finquita, a clandestine disco.

The victims allegedly were approached by three hooded men who assassinated their victims. Authorities are assuming the multiple homicide is gang-related.
