In Colombia’s southwestern city Cali, one person and a four-year-old boy died while two others were injured when their home was destroyed in a landslide caused by the continuous rainfalls, said the rescue workers. The emergency headquarters of Antioquia province reported two deaths of minors and two death of adults caused by floods in Medellin and San Luis municipality respectively. “The head of Emergency Department had alerted the mayors, the local disaster prevention committees and the community, so that they could watch out for the the rivers’ water level and overflows,” said the spokesman from the department. In the northeastern Santander province, the committees estimated at least 20 houses in Bucaramanga were destroyed by the landslides and overflows of the Oro River. “Four municipalities have been affected by Santander’s rainfalls. The most critical situation occurred in Bucaramanga, where 110 people were affected,” said rescue workers in the region. Five families from central western Quindio province’s capital Armenia were evacuated while inhabitants of Calarca municipality remain at home. Flood in Montecristo municipality in northern Bolivar province caused damages to some 600 families. The Disaster Attention and Prevention Office warned about the appearance of epidemic in some areas.
