Hacienda Napoles, the former ranch of infamous Medellin drug lord Pablo Escobar, is to inaugurate an African-themed, six-star hotel by Easter this year.

Hacienda Napoles representative Oberdan Martinez Orozco told Colombia Reports that a deluxe African-themed hotel is to be built this year in the interactive Bird World zone of the theme park.

Tha Africa hotel is to have “a tribal and rustic structure and architecture … inspired by the south of Africa.”

The hotel is to be up and running by April. “We hope to have the project finished and operational by Easter. Initially we will have nine rooms in the first block but the idea is to have 50 rooms.”

Hacienda Napoles already has the Casablanca Safari hotel which is Morrocco-inspired and has “formal and classical African architecture.”

The new hotel will bring the number of hotels in Hacienda Napoles to five. There is also an area available for campers.

Interactive Bird World, the location of the new hotel, is just one of the parks within Hacienda Napoles.

Other parks are the Hippopotamus Park, Jurassic Park, the Fauna Sanctuary, the Coliseum, the landing strip, the House Museum, the Stables, the Butterfly House, and the Aquatic Zone, including a Crazy River, along which guests travel in a rubber ring.

Tourists can take tours of the immense grounds with woods and lakes on horseback or on foor and by car and some of the wild animals brought over from Africa by drug baron Escobar.

Hacienda Napoles is located near the town of Doradal in the department of Antioquia, approximately two and a half hours from Medellin.
