6 killed, 17 injured in hydroelectric blast in central Colombia

Six people were killed and another 17 injured in an explosion at the Central Hydroelectric plant in the municipality of Chinchina in the central Colombian Caldas department, Colombian media reported.

According to reports, the explosion was caused by an accumulation of gas, which was created by workers painting inside the pipes of the plant.

The director of the Red Cross in Caldas has confirmed that the 17 injured in the explosion were quickly rushed to nearby medical centers.

Coroners are working to determine the identities of the six workers who were killed.
