Student protests against education reform in three Colombian cities left 22 people injured Wednesday, W Radio reported.
Hundreds of students took to the street, clashing with authorities in Cali, Neiva and Monteria.
Outside the Universidad del Valle in Cali, police reported that protesters attacked Cali’s public transportation system MIO and caused a major traffic blockage. At least two Cali police officers were injured, according to Univision Noticias.
“Students Against Law 30 of 92, for an inclusive education system” read one flyer in Cali.
The proposed reform triggered protests across Colombia because of plans to allow private organizations to fund university activities. The government announced the withdraw of the for-profit section of the reform in late August, but students continue to fight against tuition hikes and the perceived ill treatment of professors.
