Twenty alleged gang members of narco-kingpin Maximiliano Bonilla Orozco, alias “Valenciano,” were captured by Colombia’s police.
The detainees were arrested in various cities in Colombia during a large scale operation. According to the police, the alleged gang members were involved in a network dedicated to the production and dealing of narcotics.
In September, 150 gang members signed a peace contract in which they agreed to stop committing acts of violence and turn their weapons over to the authorities. In the same month, 75 alleged gang members were arrested.
Since April, the US Department of State offers a reward up to $ 5 million for information on Valenciano. They believe Valenciano receives cocaine directly from guerilla groups including the ELN and state that Valenciano “has been linked to the transport of over $25 million in drug-related proceeds from the United States to Mexico.”
