150 thousand claim compensation for violence

150,000 victims of violence conducted by one of Colombia’s illegal
armed groups have claimed government compensation since August, the
Presidential agency for victim reparation announced Thursday.

The reparation of victims is one of the three elements of the country’s Justice and Peace law that was called to life with the demobilization of paramilitary organization AUC. The money and properties seized from paramilitaries who demobilized will be used to repair victims.
