Colombia news - Medellin landslide

Some 150 people are feared to be buried under mud and earth after a landslide on Sunday hit the slums of Bello, a town bordering Medellin in the north.

A total of 50 houses were buried in what may be deadliest landslide of this year’s rainy season, which has been called the worst in 60 years. 175 Colombians lost their lives in floods and landslides so far this year.

On Monday morning, rescue workers had been able to rescue seven people from the rubble alive. Another 12 were found dead.

The Red Cross and local authorities have 200 people on the scene trying to find survivors.

Local authorities are trying to make up an official list of people who are missing.
